OPERATIVE OBSTETRICS; HUGE OVARIAN TUMOR WITH PREGNANCY

A 20 Year old, newly married (2 months) came complaining of lower abdominal discomfort, swelling, deep dyspareunia. On examination, and ultrasound; a 20x17 cm binocular right ovarian swelling was diagnosed. Being a premenstrual, the operative interference was postponed till after menses. Three weeks later she came with amenorrhea and positive urine pregnancy test. I disscused the couple for postponing the operative interference till the time of delivery that will be by cesarean section. On 20/03/2008 a CS was done, with 3450 gm male baby with a good health. After closing the uterine incision,t the tumor was removed with the ahderent ipsilateral fallopian tube, which was also stretched, and inflamed. A good amount of healthy ovarian tissue could be left behind. for photos follow the link
